Confined Space Rescue Training Courses

Emergency Training Systems, Inc. offers a variety of Confined Space Entry/Rescue courses. Minimum course curriculums are set in accordance with nationally accepted practices, and each student will receive a certificate of completion and a wallet-size card for on-site training qualifications.

Each course is fine-tuned to meet the needs of the individual student groups. If one of our standard courses does not meet the specific needs of your company, we will be happy to custom design a course to assure compliance and meet the needs of your company.

Confined Space Awareness and Entry Supervisor Class

An 8-hour awareness course designed to introduce personnel to work in and around confined spaces. The course includes classroom sessions and demonstrations of techniques utilized to enter confined spaces such as tanks, vaults, storage bins, tunnels, process vessels, etc. Students will be presented information on what constitutes a confined space, the hazards that may be encountered and hazard control techniques; definition and use of Entry Permits, Hot Work Permits and Lock Out procedures. We will discuss pre-entry planning and developing a Rescue Plan. Students will be exposed to a variety of equipment used in entry and rescue, as well as basic techniques for non-entry rescue. At the conclusion of class, students will be given a written multiple choice exam to verify key information was received and understood.

Confined Space Rescue – Operations Course

This 16-hour course is recommended for individuals who may be called on to perform confined space rescue operations. The class builds on information provided in the Confined Space Awareness class and provides students an opportunity to learn basic skills and techniques used in confined spaces to provide victim rescues. Students will use a variety of specialized rescue tools and learn skills necessary to extricate a victim form several differ types of spaces. This class is based on information contained in OSHA CFR 1910.146 and NFPA recommended guidelines.

Each student will receive a performance checklist, which verifies that he/she has completed each of the basic practical skills required to successfully participate in a confined space rescue operation.

Confined Space Rescue – Technician Course

This 16-hour course is recommended for individuals who are assigned to a designated Confined Space Rescue Team. This course builds on the Operations Course and emphasizes team operations and more complex rescue scenarios. Specialized rescue equipment and techniques for patient packaging are discussed and practiced by each student. This comprehensive course examines all aspects of conducting a safe and efficient operation. Emphasis is placed on student involvement, safety and incident management. Each student will be given the opportunity to be directly involved in several simulated rescues from our Confined Space Simulator, which is specifically designed to afford the students with the greatest exposure to real-life entry and extrication scenarios, but under safe and controlled conditions.

Each student will receive a performance checklist, which verifies that he/she has completed each of the basic practical skills required to successfully conduct and/or manage a confined space rescue operation.
